A Fun and Tasty Way to Learn About the African Savanna!

We’re excited to announce the release of our latest African Savanna Unit Study Kit for K-4th grade learners! This kit is packed with engaging lessons and activities designed to immerse your child in the wonders of the African Savanna. From the towering giraffes to the majestic lions, this unit study brings the wild landscapes of Africa right into your home classroom.

To celebrate, we have a delightful hands-on activity that pairs perfectly with our new kit: African Savanna. This simple, fun, and delicious project is a great way to add a touch of creativity and taste to your learning adventures.

What You’ll Need:

  1. 1 Nutter Butter cookie (for the giraffe’s head)
  2. 1 pretzel stick (for the ossicones, the little “horns” on top of a giraffe’s head)
  3. 2 raisins or craisins (for the ears)
  4. 2 candy eyeballs (because every giraffe needs to see!)
  5. 2 chocolate chips (for the nostrils)
  6. Additional peanut butter (to use as “glue”)

Let’s Get Crafty:

  1. Carefully separate the Nutter Butter cookie. Gently twist it to keep the frosting intact on one side.
  2. Break a pretzel stick in half and press the two pieces into the frosting on the top of the cookie, creating the giraffe’s ossicones.
  3. Add the ears by pressing a raisin into each side of the frosting. These will stick out just below the ossicones.
  4. Place the other half of the cookie back on top, gently pressing down to secure the pretzels and raisins in place.
  5. Make the face: Add two candy eyeballs just below the ossicones and two chocolate chips at the bottom of the cookie for nostrils. If needed, use a small dab of peanut butter as glue.

And there you have it—a cute, edible giraffe that’s sure to bring smiles and excitement to your African Savanna studies!
